Distractions & Purpose

“It’s always the flashy things that pull us off our path.”

Many times in life, we get distracted, and those distractions can cause us to miss our purpose and destiny. Picture yourself walking on a path, steady and focused, when suddenly a nice car appears on the side of the road. That moment of curiosity becomes a distraction, and before you know it, you’ve drifted away from your path.

It’s usually the flashy things that pull our minds away from what truly matters. We see it everywhere: material things we don’t even need. I’m not saying you shouldn’t treat yourself. You work hard, you show up every day, and you deserve something nice. But balance matters. When you learn to desire the right things, you stay aligned with your purpose.

People & Influence

“The wrong people will make you miss the mark.”

Another distraction that can pull you off your path is surrounding yourself with the wrong people. When you’re humble, responsible, compassionate, and consistent, but the people around you are prideful, harsh, unaccountable, and unmotivated, your spirit begins fighting battles it was never meant to fight.

These are the people you must avoid. If you stay around them long enough, their habits become your distractions, and you’ll struggle to stay the course.

How to Stay the Course

“Protect your mind, guard your spirit, and choose your circle wisely.”

So what can we do to stay the course?

Create a healthy mindset. Remove negative thoughts and emotions that pollute your heart and spirit. Instead of endlessly scrolling through social media and feeding your mind junk, choose things that uplift you, such as books, educational videos, spiritual content, or anything that sharpens your mind.

Create. Write. Make music. Take photos. Paint. Build something.

And surround yourself with people who share your vision, people who uplift, support, and challenge you to grow.

Avoid distractions.

Stay focused.

Stay the course.
